Understanding the Wall: How to Use Glass in Padel
The walls are what make padel unique. Learn how to read, use, and weaponise the glass walls.
The glass walls are the defining feature of padel. The ball can bounce off the back and side walls and remain in play.
Defensive wall play: When your opponent smashes, the ball will often bounce off the back glass. Position yourself 2-3 metres from the back wall and wait for the ball to come to you.
Offensive wall play: Advanced players use the side walls aggressively. A vibora or bandeja hit at the right angle will bounce off the side wall and accelerate away from the opponent.
Key rule: if the ball bounces on the floor first, then hits the wall, it is still in play.
