East Grinstead Sports Club (EGSC) is a longstanding, community-rooted multi-sport venue in West Sussex known for its commitment to sporting excellence and accessibility. In Spring 2025, the club significantly expanded its racquet sport offering with the opening of four high-specification covered padel courts, designed to accommodate year-round play in all weather conditions.
The launch of the padel facility was spearheaded by former Olympic hockey player Richard Leman, a key figure in the club’s leadership and development. The courts were officially inaugurated by Sandi Procter, President of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), highlighting the sport’s growing national significance and EGSC’s proactive role in its regional growth.
Set within a spacious 37-acre site, EGSC already offers a diverse sporting environment including cricket, hockey, tennis, squash, a fully equipped gym, fitness studios, and function facilities. The addition of padel reflects the club’s mission to promote inclusive, cross-generational participation and to respond to the rising interest in this fast-paced, social sport.
The club aims to balance structured programming—such as competitive box leagues, coaching sessions, and club championships—with casual social play, drop-in events, and community outreach initiatives. Whether welcoming beginners, juniors, or experienced padel enthusiasts, EGSC's new courts represent a bold step toward broadening the club’s appeal and reinforcing its position as a modern, accessible sporting destination in the heart of East Grinstead.
